UNITE is soliciting presentations for the 2021 Annual Conference, "Secure and Resilient Hybrid Data Center Strategies."

This page lists the suggested presentation topic areas for General Interest and Management and Planning (MTP) that UNITE recommends presenters consider for the 2023 conference. This list is not restrictive. Please feel free to combine elements from these suggestions or offer something that is entirely different. See the main Call for Presentations page for information on the structure of the conference and its presentations. You can submit a presentation abstract using the UNITE Presentation Entry site.

ClearPath Strategic Roadmap for 2023 and Beyond
Present the plan for evolution of the ClearPath MCP and OS 2200 operating environments and platforms for the foreseeable future.

Unisys and Dell ClearPath Cyber Resilience
Dell has created a powerful and sophisticated capability, termed “Cyber Recovery,” for quick restoration of enterprise data that had been corrupted or destroyed. Cyber Recovery uses both Physical and Virtual Cyber Vaults. The original implementation appears to be on “open” systems, but in 2021 was extended to certain mainframe systems and integrated with their data base environments. This is a presentation on the Unisys implementation for the ClearPath systems.

Unisys Plans for ClearPath and Hybrid Data Center Customer Support
Customer support for Unisys ClearPath platforms and operating environments is potentially complex in single system and private data center environments. The move to hybrid operating environments, however, which results in distributing MCP and OS 2200 workloads across multiple data centers (private or public clouds), increases the number of support components and complexity. This session should explore Unisys plans and goals to satisfy customer support requirements (software engineering, deployed systems software, and hardware environments) in both single system / single data center and in multiple hybrid private and public cloud environments.

Stealth and Zero-Trust in the Hybrid Cloud
This is an amazing capability to substantially increase cyber security in both private data center and networks and in hybrid data centers involving private and public clouds. Since ClearPath systems can participate in Stealth secured networks, a discussion of the Stealth capabilities for ClearPath-based environments that include Cloud deployment is of value to the Unisys user community.

Collaborative Advantages and Advances in Digital Workplace
We heard from a Unify Square technology executive at the 2021 (February 2022) conference and it would be valuable to hear about the continued evolution and enhancement of the Unisys Digital Workplace capabilities.

Unisys Disaster Recovery Support Options
Unisys has long provided various outsourcing capabilities to Unisys customers and there is increasing interest in learning about the Disaster Recovery solutions and support that are available from Unisys.

Data Exchange and EOM in Hybrid Cloud Deployments
At the 2021 conference we heard about current capabilities for Data Exchange and the EOM. Hearing more about how these two tools can be deployed and useful in Hybrid Data Center deployments involving both private and public cloud environments could be valuable to conference attendees.

ClearPath Hybrid Data Center Deployment Planning
UNITE intends to provide a session on planning for inclusion of cloud-based processing and storage that include and interoperate with ClearPath environments.

Additional General Interest Sessions

The following types of General Interest sessions will be organized by UNITE and delivered by Unisys users and by third party organizations at UNITE request.

  • MCP Virtual System Deployment Update – 1 year later
  • Skills and Training Needed to Manage and Support the Hybrid Data Center (referencing Servers, Mainframe, Network, Clouds, and Cyber Security)
  • Cyber Security Update – FBI and others
  • Cyber Security Requirements for the Hybrid Data Center
  • I Didn’t Know You Could Do That! (IDKYCDT)

Security of Hybrid Cloud Environments and Data

Discussion on the increasing threat landscape and strategies for securing and maintaining integrity of corporate and customers’ data in hybrid cloud environments. Are there any new tools and processes? Include discussion of compliance requirements and the responsibility to actually protect the enterprise and its customers. [Presentation possibly followed by panel discussion, may require a longer session]

Performance Management of Hybrid On-premise and Cloud Services Delivery

Discussion of the hybrid world that IT faces in delivery of business services and how that world requires the ability to get an integrated view of the delivery and performance of services across all of a business's IT infrastructure that is involved in supporting the its missions. [Presentation and possible panel discussion]

Finding and Training Resources to Continue Your Digital Evolution for the Future Services Delivery Environment

Discussion of staffing and resource challenges in acquiring the people to maintain existing business critical applications and services while enabling expansion of services and enhancement of services delivery. [Presentation followed by panel discussion]

Managing Regulatory Compliance – Planning, Tools, and Techniques

Discussion of the need to manage and monitor regulatory compliance, along with some of the tools available now and on the horizon to make this critical capability possible. [Presentation]
