The UNITE 2020 Conference opens Monday, November 16th at 10:30 AM with a Welcome Ice Breaker session to introduce our virtual conference which is focused on Empowering Your On-going Digital Evolution.

We will also explore the substantial improvements and capabilities available from Unisys and Partners to assist in meeting the new challenges we've been facing in 2020, starting with the Opening General Session: ClearPath Forward Strategic Direction.   We'll continue with presentations on ClearPath product updates, transforming IT into the Cloud, securing your enterprise and the USA infrastructure, and discussion of some real world experiences in meeting the "new normal".

Read on to see details on the extensive agenda and information on the Personal Schedule System where you can build your personal agenda.  Don't forget to visit the "UNITE 2020 Keynotes" page for additional sessions

Additional details on the Agenda, schedule, and description for each session is available through the new on-line UNITE Agenda System which replaces the paper documents (agenda, Conference at a Glance, and Evaluation form) used at previous conferences.

Know that the sessions listed on this page are not all the sessions that will be presented at the conference.  These are sessions that UNITE believes will be of significant value to attendees and represent the topics that will be featured at the conference.  If there is a topic that you would like to see at the conference, please send an email to Conf.Plan@unite.org and ask about it.  It may already be on the schedule.

These Management and Planning (MTP) sessions should be of value and interest to all attendees:

ClearPath Public and Private Cloud Experiences Discussion

This will be a facilitated discussion with people who have experience deploying ClearPath Systems into private and public cloud environments.

Challenges of Transitioning To/From a Remote Work Force

With the Pandemic Stay At Home Orders, transition to remote work was unexpected for many organizations and their staff.  How did this work out for your organization?  Were you prepared (Pandemic BC Plan?) for rapidly ramping up remote workers? Are you considering making the move to WFH permanent for most of the staff?  Any consideration for tooling to monitor remote worker productivity?  How will you change the plan for the next event?

BC/DR and the Pandemic Plan

Discussion of the plans and how we all worked through the pandemic.  Did we declare a pandemic and put the plan into place (or a BC/DR plan for that matter)?  Were there any unforeseen challenges?  Has the pandemic experience changed our plans and future preparedness posture?  This can also include a discussion on how this event and the challenges were faced deploying remote workers.

Security in the “Cloud”

It’s a scary and dangerous world up there and you’re still responsible for integrity and security of your and your customers’ data and PII/PCI.  So what must we do for Compliance and also to actually protect ourselves and our customers.

ClearPath: Keeping Everything Running Smoothly

ClearPath applications are important parts of your business. Creating that smooth running environment is something you have developed over many years. As the generation that developed many of our ClearPath application or that provides operations and administrative support retires, determining the best way to replace those skills, and transition those responsibilities has been concern for some and a surprise for others.

Extend your ClearPath Environment to Support Your Digital Transformation

Your ClearPath environment supports your business critical applications today. Wherever your digital transformation journey may take you, you can continue to leverage this investment by extending your ClearPath environment, your “Systems of Record”, in support of your digital initiative. In this session, we’ll discuss how you can leverage what you have while minimizing risk and time.

Migrating MCP Backup and Archive Services Off of Tape

Last year I presented the MCP place in secure digital transformation.  One aspect of that transformation was integrating our MCP platform services to run on infrastructure shared by Linux and Windows platforms.

To accomplish this we decided to remove the applications and services dependencies on enterprise tape services. This positions us to have one less data center dependency when looking at future hosting options.

This presentation will cover:

  • Why we made that choice;
  • A review of backup, archive, and restore principles;
  • How we modeled our tape business use cases
  • How each use case was migrated
  • Where we plan to go from here.

I Didn't Know You Could Do That! (2020 Edition)

It's time once again to sweat the small stuff. Like all mature computer environments, MCP systems have a lot of features and capabilities. Some of these are not obvious, or at least not very well known. Everyone has their favorite set of Tips & Tricks to make better use of the system, but no one knows them all.

This presentation has a number of short offerings by multiple speakers, each describing a simple Tip or Trick you can take back to your shop and put to immediate use. There will be a brief write-up available on each one, and ample time for questions. A vote will be held to select Best Trick. Requests for "I Wish I Could Do That" features from the audience will be welcome at the end. Come have some fun and learn something you     didn't know before.
